The Lit Life

I am so nervous and excited about this event I am doing at Prairie Lights in Iowa City on Thursday night. Prairie Lights is an Iowa--nay, a Midwestern, an American--literary institution. I'm having Doug make tons of cookies and cupcakes to have something to distract myself with. If I worry about supervising the sweets making, I won't worry about how many people will show up, whether I'll make any sense talking to them, and all those other things that you worry about when you've been talking about something for two months and then it finally arrives.

My super fun friend Joe interviewed me on his weekly radio show for KRUI to promote the event. It aired today and it was really thrilling to get asked so many smart and astute questions about my writing. Joe rocks. Check out the episode (and lots of other Writers Workshop students/alum reading their work) here.

Hope to see you at . . .

Julie, The Wife a dit…

I'm so sad - I'm always looking for excuses to drive to Prairie Lights from the Quad Cities, and I would have LOVED to attend your reading, but alas...I have promised to paint nails at our elementary school Valentine's Dance! Curse you, St. Valentine, and your apparent nail fetish!
Good luck!

The reading was kick ass! You were very funny and picked a really entertaining part of your book to share. Glad I was able to make it.
